Enjoy a Dazzling, New Smile with Porcelain Veneers
Veneers Placement Process
Typically, veneers are placed over the course of two office visits. However, the exact steps of the procedure will depend on the type of smile that you choose after your smile design appointment. Dr. Abide will not only address your teeth but will look at your overall dental health to be sure that you receive a smile that is both dazzling and one that can be sustained over time. During this consult, he will address the gums that surround your teeth. Your gums act as the frame for your new smile and we know a great picture without the right frame gets lost. With this being said, you might be a candidate for Dr. Abide’s Cosmetic Tissue Sculpting which takes away excessive gum tissue that gives the appearance of a gummy smile.
To place traditional veneers, Dr. Abide will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of the tooth or teeth being treated — this is done to make room for the restoration and to provide a stronger bonding surface. Your teeth will be numb during this process and he will work very carefully, so you should experience little discomfort, if any. Next, he will take impressions and photographs of your teeth, which will be used to custom fabricate your veneers. After the first appointment, you will leave with acrylic temporaries sculpted by Dr. Abide which act as a guide when fabricating your veneers. This allows you and Dr. Abide to be sure that your goals are going to be met for your new smile. Most cosmetic dentistry is in the hands of the dental lab, but Dr. Abide goes that extra step to customize your new smile. Using the latest porcelain material, he will then have your veneers fabricated. When you come for your second visit, Dr. Abide will make sure that the veneers fit correctly and do not create bite imbalances while also verifying that your new veneers have achieved your cosmetic goals. Once these are accomplished he will then secure your veneers using dental cement.
In addition to traditional veneers, Dr. Abide also offers his own no-prep, ultra-thin porcelain veneers. If you are a candidate for no-prep veneers, the treatment process is similar. Typically, Dr. Abide needs to remove little enamel, if any, in order to place his no-prep restorations. Best of all, no-prep veneers can achieve many of the same effects as traditional veneers. If you have questions about which treatment is right for you, Dr. Abide will make a recommendation during your initial consultation.
Are You a Candidate for Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are incredibly versatile, and they can achieve a wide range of cosmetic results. Veneers may be a great choice for you if you are concerned with:
- Severe stains, particularly internal stains that do not respond to teeth whitening
- Worn teeth, due to bruxism or other dental problems
- Small gaps between your teeth
- Disproportionately small teeth
- Unusually shaped teeth
- Chips or small cracks in the surface of your teeth
- Dental erosion
Take Advantage of the Benefits
Porcelain veneers have become incredibly popular for the treatment of minor cosmetic imperfections, in part because they offer a number of distinct advantages. Veneers are easy to maintain, requiring nothing more than routine dental hygiene visits. In fact, with regular dental care, your lifelike veneers can last for years. Additionally, veneers can be used to treat a number of cosmetic conditions, and often provide a more convenient and less invasive solution to alternative treatment options. This makes them ideal for individuals seeking treatment that will have minimal impact. Put simply, veneers are effective, convenient, and natural-looking.
